Rangers extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League to nine points with a 1-0 win over Hibernian on Saturday.
Ally McCoist’s side battled to break down Hibs in front of their home fans at Ibrox, but eventually found a goal through Kyle Lafferty in the 68th minute.
Rangers now lead Motherwell by nine points, although third-placed Celtic have two games in hand.
Motherwell leapt into second after they won 3-1 on the road at Dundee United.
It took the visitors just 14 minutes to open the scoring at Tannadice Park, with Keith Lasley making the breakthrough.
Michael Higdon scored in first-half injury time to double Motherwell’s advantage, before the striker nabbed his second from the penalty spot on 64 minutes to all but seal the match.
Dundee were able to pull one goal back through Jon Daly late on, but the hosts were never really in the match.
Cellar-dwellers Inverness claimed just their second victory of the season, coming from behind to beat St Mirren 2-1 at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.
Defender Marc McAusland had given the visitors the lead on 23 minutes, but Andrew Shinnie responded for Inverness just past the half-hour mark, before Gregory Tade sealed the three points with a goal 12 minutes from time.
Kilmarnock slumped to their third straight defeat after being beaten 2-1 at home by St Johnstone, with Cillian Sheridan scoring the winner in the second half.
