(GSM) – Mamadou Niang and Guirane N’Daw scored inside the final 20 minutes to give Senegal a stunning 2-0 victory over World Cup side Greece in Piraeus on Wednesday.

The two sides went scoreless after a rather drab opening 45 minutes at the Karaiskakis Stadium, but the west Africans picked up the pace after the restart by putting their hosts on the backfoot.

Niang struck the opener on 71 minutes when he split his way past both Nikos Spiropoulos and Sotirios Kyrgiakos to score beyond a helpless Kostas Chalkias.

Then, just nine minutes later, it was 2-0 to Senegal when N’Daw beat Chalkias off a free kick much to the displeasure of the Greek fans in attendance.

Greece have friendlies against Korea DPR and Paraguay scheduled in the buildup to their Group B opener on 12 June against Korea Republic in Port Elizabeth.

Senegal are next in action twice in May against both Mexico and Denmark.
