FIFA President Sepp Blatter has said that he saw no reason as to why Australia couldnÂ’t pip some of the more popular choices to host World Cup 2018.

Main contenders for the World Cup in 2018 are England, Russia and the United States.

Blatter added that Australian have proved that they are fully capable of hosting a major event. Australian has successfully hosted two Olympics, a Cricket World Cup and a Rugby World Cup in the last fifty years.

The President also said that they would be making the announcement of both the 2018 and 2022 World Cups at the same time thereby giving Australia two ‘bites at the cherry’.

He concluded by saying that it was FIFAÂ’s intention to take the World Cup to all continents and that was why South Africa were successful in their bid for 2010.
