With the Premier League making its return from an enforced break, we have a stacked schedule from across the footballing globe. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
Saturday September 17th
BST 17:30 Tottenham vs Leicester
After getting hit with a last-gasp 2-0 defeat away at Sporting Lisbon while on Champions League duties earlier in the week, Tottenham will be seeking an immediate response here. However, while Antonio Conte’s men might have seen their 13-match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end out in Portugal a few days ago, Saturday’s hosts are enjoying an early-season domestic purple patch. Last seen on Premier League action picking up a 2-1 victory against top-flight returners Fulham, the one-time Chelsea boss will be calling on his side to lay down a marker here. Mustering 14 points from their opening six domestic outings, it should also be noted that Tottenham are one of just two sides who can boast an unbeaten start to the 2022/23 campaign. Despite their disappointing European display in midweek, Spurs should be boosted by a rather rampant record against Saturday’s opponents. Landing a 3-1 win when they last faced off against Leicester on May 5th, it should be noted that Conte’s men have won each of their last three meetings against the Foxes by an aggregate score of 10-5. Likewise, with Brendan Rodgers’ side last seen getting hit with a woeful 5-2 drumming away at Brighton, the former Premier League champions are in the midst of a top-flight nightmare. Picking up just a single point from any of their opening six appearances, we’re backing a home victory here.
Tip: Harry Kane to score anytime @ 19/20
18:00 Sochaux vs Nimes
While Sochaux might have eventually finished six points adrift of clinching a Ligue 1 return back in May, Les Lionceaux have really come flying out of the traps this time around. Last seen putting in another impressive display as they cruised their way to a 2-0 victory away at Dijon, Olivier Guegan’s men are enjoying quite the purple patch. Opening this weekend’s fixtures holding a one-point buffer over the chasing pack, Saturday’s hosts have now won each of their last five second-tier outings on the spin. Spearheaded by attacking talisman Moussa Doumbia who has now found the net in each of his last three Ligue 2 appearances, the Lions Cubs have also found a clinical edge in the final third. Including a thumping 4-1 romp against Laval when opening September, it should be noted that Sochaux have bagged 14 strikes on their five-match winning run. However, while Guegan’s side are enjoying a stellar run of form, the same cannot be said for a downbeat Nimes side. Last seen having to settle for a sluggish point at home against Bastia last weekend, Les Crocodiles have managed to win just one of their previous five Ligue 2 outings. Likewise, losing each of their last three matchups away from the Stade des Costières and shipping eight goals, Nicolas Usaï’s men were also hit with a 3-1 loss when they faced off against Sochaux five months ago.
Tip: Sochaux to score over 1.5 goals @ 19/20
19:45 Torino vs Sassuolo
After putting in a hugely impressive display away at the San Siro last weekend, Torino would have been left heartbroken by their last-gasp 1-0 loss at the hands of Inter Milan. However, while the Bulls might have lost two of their last three Serie A outings, Ivan Jurić’s men have still impressed many across Italy this season. Managing to clinch a top-half finish back in May, Saturday’s hosts now have their sights set on trying to mount a shock European charge this time around. With West Ham loanee Nikola Vlasic enjoying a real free-scoring start to life in Serie A, the Granata will be glad to make a return to home soil here. Last seen in front of their own supporters picking up a deserved 1-0 win against Leece, Jurić’s side are unbeaten in each of their first three domestic contests at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. Hoping to try and find a route into the top-six this weekend, they should be smelling a chance against a Sassuolo side who have shown some extended issues. Putting in a nightmare display last weekend as they were hit with a 3-1 loss at home against Udinese, the Neroverdi have now failed to win any of their last four Serie A outings. Likewise, with Torino losing just one of their previous 12 top-flight meetings against Saturday’s guests, we’re backing a home victory here.
