Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they landed a routine 2-0 victory at home against Sassuolo, the former Lyon boss has seen his high-flying squad open up the 2023/24 campaign with back-to-back Serie A wins. Opening proceedings with a 3-1 win away at Frosinone on August 19th, Napoli will certainly be smelling the chance to make a heavyweight statement here. While Lazio might have clinched a hugely impressive silver medal finish last season, it is fair to say that Maurizio Sarri’s men have come crashing back down to earth. Opening the new campaign with a shock 2-1 loss away at Lecce, the one-time Chelsea boss does find some early pressure on his shoulders. Forced to settle for a remarkable 3-3 stalemate away at Nantes last weekend, Saturday’s hosts will be desperate to claim an immediate boost here. Gaining a reputation for their lively outcomes on either side of the summer break, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss will certainly be calling on his red-hot attacking talisman to spearhead his charge this weekend. Once again finding the net against Nantes last time out, Wissam Ben Yedder has already notched four goals from his opening three domestic showdowns. Continuing on from where he left off last season as he bagged 19 top-flight strikes, the 33-year-old will be looking to cash in on a struggling Lens. While Saturday’s guests might have made real history last season as they punched a famous Champions League ticket, Franck Haise’s men have failed to find a similar level this time around. Last seen getting hit with an action-packed 3-1 loss away at defending champions PSG, the one-time Lorient coach is still waiting for his squad to put a first Ligue 1 victory on the board. Likewise, signing off their pre-season preparations with a 3-1 defeat against Manchester United, Lens are seeking some much-needed defensive resolve.
