September 8th: Sunday’s MLS Double – 3/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

While the Nations League might once again steal most of the headlines this weekend, we do have a stacked MLS schedule on our hands.

With America’s elite now fully back into the swing of things following this summer’s Leagues Cup, we have six MLS showdowns on the cards throughout the early hours of Sunday.

For those of you looking to stick on a flutter this weekend, we have taken a glance at some of the most intriguing MLS betting tips.

00:30 Columbus Crew vs Seattle Sounders

Crowned Leagues Cup champions last month after securing what was a famous 3-1 romp against Los Angeles, Columbus find themselves in the midst of what has become a real fairytale. With the mood around Ohio at a red-hot high, Wilfried Nancy’s men will simply be looking to make another statement of intent this weekend. Last seen putting in a stunning display as they secured an action-packed 4-2 victory at home against New York City, Sunday’s hosts are riding a major wave of momentum. Marking their return from the MLS’ summer interval with a 1-0 win away at Philadelphia, Columbus have now won all of their previous seven appearances across all competitions. Likewise, the former Montreal boss has seen his squad suffer just a single defeat from any of their last 14 consecutive outings – a run that stems all the way back to June 20th.

While Seattle might have entered the MLS’ summer break enjoying their own respective flurry, the Sounders have come crashing back down to earth. Watching their Leagues Cup adventure come to an abrupt end back on August 5th as they fell to a 3-0 drumming against LAFC at the quarter-final stage, Sunday’s guests have now lost three of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Tumbling their way down the Western Conference table, Brian Schmetzer’s side couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge this weekend. Facing what will be a heavyweight challenge here, it should also be noted that Seattle have drawn back-to-back blanks for the first time since the middle of April. Given what has been a real recent gulf in class between Sunday’s opponents, we are backing what could be an enjoyable home victory in Ohio.

Betting Tip: Columbus Crew & Over 1.5 goals @ 6/5 with Pribet

03:30 Vancouver Whitecaps vs FC Dallas

While Vancouver might have suffered Leagues Cup heartbreak at the hands of Mexican giants UNAM last month, the Whitecaps are in the midst of what has become a real domestic purple patch. Continuing to storm their way up the Western Conference table and receiving a string of plaudits from across the MLS, Vanni Sartini’s men are breezing their way towards another play-off ticket this season. Putting in another rugged performance last weekend as they secured a 1-0 victory away at Austin, Vancouver have won four of their previous five appearances across all competitions. Recording back-to-back clean sheets for the first time so far this calendar year, Sunday’s hosts will also be excited by their most recent showdown against Dallas. When they last met their Western Conference rivals back on March 17th, they collected an eye-catching 3-1 romp in Texas.

Although Dallas might have signed off August with a sensational 4-3 victory away at DC United, Sunday’s guests came crashing back down to earth last weekend. Eventually falling to an action-packed 3-2 defeat at home against Colorado, interim boss Peter Luccin is desperately seeking some crucial stability. Enduring a public Leagues Cup struggle last month as they failed to find a route to the knockout stage, the Burn have lost three of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Facing an uphill battle in the race to clinch a play-off spot, Dallas have also recorded just a sole away victory since the end of May. Likewise, hit with that 3-1 loss when they welcomed Vancouver to the Toyota Stadium back in March, it should also be noted that they have collected just a single point at BC Place from their previous four trips.
