Partizan Belgrade striker Lazar Markovic has revealed that Barcelona have contacted the Serbian club to inquire about his services.
The 18-year-old forward is considered to be one of the brightest talents in European football and a host of top European clubs are lining up for his signature.
While Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish admitted his interest in the player earlier this year, the young Serb revealed he was dreaming about a move to Chelsea instead.
Barcelona were also believed to be following Markovic, and now the player has revealed Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has been in contact with his club.
“It is correct that Zubizarreta called Partizan officials, they told me he had wished me happy birthday,” Markovic told Serbian daily Sportski Zurnal.
The Serbian international admits he is flattered by the interest from such a big club.
“It’s nice to hear that a great club like Barcelona are following me, but I am now completely calm and committed to Partizan.
”I would love to remain at the club, but not everything is up to me. What can I do if an offer arrives?”
After making just one substitute appearance last term, Markovic has exploded this season, scoring 6 goals in 24 league appearances.
However, the youngster has suffered a big dip in form of late and failed to find the net in last ten competitive games.
