Nantes forward Serge Gakpe has revealed that he has agreed to join Genoa in the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old has a contract until the end of the season with the Canaries, and he was heavily linked with a January exit.
However, Gakpe eventually opted to remain with Nantes until the end of the season, while agreeing a switch to Genoa in the summer.
The experienced forward admits he is looking forward to a new challenge, with the Togo international set to join the Rossoblu on a free transfer at the end of the season.
“The club has had a great season so far and I hope they can continue like this, qualifying for the Europa League,” Gakpe told 20 Minutes.
“There were several teams interested in me, but the Genoa project attracted me more. It’s a great opportunity for me.
“Plus my friends Menez, Drame, Djordjevic and Mangami spoke well of Italy.”
Serge Gakpe left Monaco to sign for Nantes in January 2011, and he has had mixed success at Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau.
The Togolese forward amassed a total of 113 league appearances for the Canaries, scoring 20 goals in the process. Gakpe has represented Togo 25 times and scored 4 goals.
