Mateja Kezman, former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid forward and current representative of Lazio hotshot midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, confirmed his protégée was the subject of a summer bid from Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Kezman revealed that a number of Europe’s top clubs monitored Milinkovic-Savic, adding that Ligue 1 champions PSG even sent a massive offer to his client believed to be worth €8 million per season.
Milinkovic-Savic emerged as one of the hottest properties in world football last season after a sensational year in the Serie A.
His formidable exploits had him linked with a big-money move away from Rome but Biancocelesti stood their ground firmly despite missing out on the Champions League spot last term.
Lazio chiefs refused to budge in front of pressure and stood their ground behind a €120 million valuation for the midfielder which ended up being too big of a bite for all interested parties.
“Many teams were after Sergej and we presented a couple of very interesting offers to Lazio. He could have earned much more elsewhere – in France they offered him €8 million. But, in the end, we accepted the club’s decision not to sell without any arguments. They have rejected all the offers and we never pushed for a transfer because he is happy in Rome.”, Kezman stated.
