One of the most talked-about footballers this summer, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is expected to remain at Lazio despite constant rumours linking him with a move away from Rome.
The Serbian international midfielder enjoyed a formidable season in the Serie A with Biancocelesti. Having emerged as one of the most sought-after footballers in Europe, the talented midfielder was being linked with a host of continent’s biggest clubs.
Juventus, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Barcelona and most recently Inter Milan were all attributed with interest in his services but Lazio held firm behind their €110 million valuation.
Nerazzurri were said to be pondering a €30 million loan with further €70 million option to buy as they lost Arturo Vidal and failed to land Luka Modric but Sergej Milinkovic-Savic acknowledges himself that a Lazio stay is the most likely option.
“I have a contract, you never know what happens in football, but my head is at Lazio and I’m focused on my team. I’m happy to be back.” He told Premium Sport after Lazio’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal this weekend.
Milinkovic-Savic made 35 Serie A appearances last season. He scored 12 goals and was one of the key figures in Biancocelesti’s failed Champions League push.
