Barcelona starlet Sergi Roberto has moved to deny claims suggesting he could soon be leaving Camp Nou.
The 25-year-old has some 18 months left on his contract and it is his €40 million release clause that has been the main issue.
With several top clubs reportedly ready to match said clause, Sergi Roberto was linked with a January exit, but he has now made it clear he has no intention of leaving the Catalans.
Speaking after he was voted the Catalan Footballer of the Year, the midfielder reiterated his desire to remain with Barcelona.
“Barca are the club of my life and I want to stay here forever,” Roberto said in his acceptance speech.
“So I want it to be clear: no one should worry about my renewal. I am at the best club in the world and I’ve been lucky to come through the youth teams and reach the first team. I am really happy here.”
Since coming through the youth ranks, Sergi Roberto went on to make 104 La Liga appearances, scoring 1 goal.
