Sergi Roberto set for new Barcelona deal

El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto will soon extend his contract with Barcelona.

The Spain international became a target for Juventus and few more top clubs following some very good showings for the Catalans.

Barcelona officials were afraid that interested sides could decide to match his €40 million release clause, but Sergi Roberto recently made it clear he had no intention of leaving.

According to reports, his agent is currently speaking with the club and the talks should result in his client signing a deal until 2022 with a €400 million release clause.

Capable of operating as a central midfielder or right-back, Sergi Roberto has proved to be a real asset at Camp Nou, making 104 La Liga appearances since he came through the youth ranks.
