Sergio Aguero Dreams of Emulating Diego Maradona; Redknapp ‘Loves’ Modric

Manchester City newcomer Sergio Aguero has said that he dreams of duplicating Maradona’s success at Napoli with City.

“Yes definitely it’s my dream doing what Maradona did for Napoli, doing the same for Manchester City but I don’t want to talk about individuality, it’s important Manchester City do well as a team,” Aguero told reporters.

Oh by the way, Maradona happens to be Aguero’s father-in-law.

When asked whether he expects to receive special treatment in Naples due to Maradona’s legendary status in the city, Aguero said: “I can’t imagine special treatment for me tomorrow. Every game excites me but the fact Diego was an Argentinean player will probably help me.

“For the Napoli fans Maradona is the king of football. In the past he told me everything about Napoli and also I’ve seen on TV what he’s done for Napoli, how important he was for the fans.

“Obviously it’s a reason to be proud, for me, because I’m an Argentinean. I couldn’t speak with him in the last days because of the situation with the loss of his mother and I just want to send best wishes to be very close to him in this moment.”

Aguero also falsified a rumour that claimed that he is set to join Napoli. The report had also suggested that fellow Argentine international Ezequiel Lavezzi tried lure him to Italy.

“We are just speaking about football when we are together with the national team because we never have a chance to speak together so we usually talk about other things and also it would be a lack of respect towards our clubs [to discuss a potential move away],” added Aguero.

News from North London has revealed that Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has once again hailed his mighty midfield maestro Luka Modric.

Surely you can’t blame him after the Croatian’s superb outing versus Aston Villa on Monday night.

“Luka was fantastic. He was instrumental. He keeps getting on the ball and him and Scott Parker have been outstanding together in the  middle of the park. And at the back I thought we looked very assured,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“I just love [Luka]. I love the way he plays football, as a boy, as a fella. I think he’s absolutely top class. Even with all the problems he  had in the summer, he never, ever got his head down or caused a problem  for anybody. He came and trained hard every day. He’s a top, top class  professional and as I say a great guy.”
