Sergio Romero in high demand

Roma and Manchester United are among clubs hoping to win the chase for Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero, Sky Sport Italia has claimed.

The highly rated footballer is a free agent with his contract at Sampdoria having expired, and he is actively searching for a new club.

Having once again impressed playing for Argentina at the biggest stage, the 28-year-old should have no shortage of offers this summer.

Sky Sport Italia is reporting that both Roma and Manchester United have contacted the goalkeeper’s agents over the last few days.

The Giallorossi see Romero as a perfect long-term successor to veteran Morgan De Sanctis and they are reportedly ready to offer him a two-year deal.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could make a move on the Argentine in case David De Gea leaves the club, although they are looking at few other shot-stoppers as well.

Oddle enough, Romero made more appearances for the national team over the last two seasons than his respective clubs.
