Serie A giants keeping tabs on Espanyol defender; Ian Wright wants SWP to leave Eastlands

Serie A giants keeping tabs on Espanyol defender

Juventus, Inter and Napoli have shown interest in Espanyol promising defender Victor Ruiz, who is widely seen as one of the biggest prospects in Spanish football.

The 21-year-old defender has attracted a lot of attention with his performances this season and the best thing is that he will be available for as little as €8 million, which is the amount set in his release clause.

Inter have already made an inquiry with Espanyol and were told the clause actually exists but that there will be no discounts.

Juventus have yet to make a move for the player who can also play at left-back, with his versatility one of the main reasons why the Bianconeri are also in the race.

Taking into the account that Ruiz will be available for just €8 million, we can be sure the Serie A sides will face a stiff competition from La Liga giants, as well as some other European clubs, but one thing’s for sure, Ruiz is poised to leave Espanyol in January.

Ian Wright: I want Shaun to leave City

Arsenal legend Ian Wright wants to see his son Shaun Wright-Phillips leave Eastlands before his career goes down the drain.

Ian Wright believes his son is not getting the playing time he deserves under Roberto Mancini.

“I’d love him to get out of there on loan at least. We’re talking about someone who is still in the England squad, so Fabio Capello obviously rates him.

“But when you’re not playing regularly, it’s only a matter of time before he stops getting picked.

“Shaun’s finding it very hard to keep his spirits up. I can just see him getting further and further down the pecking order. I want him to go somewhere he’ll get a fair crack at the first team.”

Shaun Wright-Phillips lost his starting place with the arrival of Silva and Balotelli in the summer and Ian Wright has a point in saying that he has to leave City in order to kick-start his career.

Aston Villa line up move for Jean II Makoun

Lyon midfielder Jean II Makoun seems to have set his mind on leaving the club, with Aston Villa ready to pounce on the Cameroonian.

The battling midfielder who arrived to Stade Gerland from Lille in June 2008 is ready to leave the club after clashing with Lyon supporters.

“I’m not going to complain, but I will be leaving in the next transfer window,” Makoun said.

Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier has been alerted by the news and he sees the Lyon midfielder as a perfect addition to his injury-plagued squad in January.

Makoun should be available at a cut-back price seeing his contract expires in June 2012, although Lyon will be hoping to recoup at least a portion of the €14 million previously invested in him.

There is no doubt hard-working midfielder like Makoun would be a great asset for underperforming Aston Villa side, although with all their strikers currently on the sidelines, a new striker remains a priority for the Villans.
