AC Milan moved five points clear at the top of the Serie A on Tuesday despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Lazio.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side came closest to breaking the deadlock at the San Siro when Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s second-half strike beat Fernando Muslera and hit both posts before the Lazio shot-stopper recovered to gather the ball.
Allegri will be disappointed with the result as his side dominated large periods of the game with Mathieu Flamini, Urby Emanuelson, Robinho and Ibrahimovic all having golden chances to break the deadlock.
But they were forced to settle for a point and next face Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday.
Lazio remain third, seven points adrift of Milan, and host Chievo on Sunday.
Milan could see their lead atop the standings cut to just two points should Napoli win their away clash with Chievo Verona on Wednesday.
