Antonio Cassano will discover his fate on Monday after talks with Sampdoria failed to resolve the dispute.
Cassano, 28, has been frozen out of the Genoa-based side after insulting club president Riccardo Garrone in October.
Cassano is understood to have launched an expletive-laden tirade at Garrone following a request that the player attend a local awards dinner.
No stranger to controversy during his colourful career, the Italian international striker has apologised to Garrone and pleaded for a reprieve, but Sampdoria remain determined to terminate Cassano’s contract.
Final attempts at reconciling the differences between the player and club failed on Friday, with the matter now set to be decided by a Serie A board of arbitration.
“Reconciliation didn’t succeed, we need an arbiter’s decision,” presiding chairman Paolo Giuggioli said.
“The witnesses were heard and there will be a new hearing on Monday at 3:00pm at the end of which a verdict will be delivered.”
