It was another exciting week of football in the Serie A, one full of goals and routs, including an unexpected one over Fiorentina.
Roma vs Fiorentina
Edin Dzeko continued on his marvelous run this season, scoring two goals to put his tally up to seventeen, the most in the league. Federico Fazio and Radja Naingolan also contributed to the rout, both of them scoring a goal. It was the fifth time in a row that the Viola emerged defeated from the Stadio Olimipico.
Bologna vs Napoli
Marek Hamsik and Lorenzo Insigne got Napoli off to a fast start, scoring two goals within the first six minutes. Both teams were reduced to ten men when Jose Callejon and Adam Masina were sent off. Dries Mertens added another one, but Vasilis Torosidis pulled one back just three minutes after. Bologna’s defense eventually succumbed, Hamsik and Mertens completing their hat-tricks.
Pescara vs Lazio
Marco Parolo scored four goals in a 6-2 rout for Lazio, Balde Keita and Ciro Immobile adding on for the visitors. The hosts
got two goals courtesy of Ahmed Benali and Gaston Brugman, but it was too little, too late as the hosts succumbed yet again and are facing relegation.
Juventus vs Inter
Juventus exacted their revenge on Inter who had beaten them earlier in the season. Juan Cuadrado provided the only goal of the game, and that was enough for Juventus to eek out a win against the Nerazzuri. To make matters worse for the visitors, Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic were suspended for two games due to arguments with the referee.
Milan vs Sampdoria
Milan continued on their poor run of form, losing to Sampdoria. Luis Muriel converted from the spot, and despite Milan’s attempts to equalize, they continued with their poor form.
Genoa vs Sassuolo
Lorenzo Pellegrini scored the only goal of the game to lead struggling Sassuolo over Genoa at Luigi Ferraris.
Atalanta vs Cagliari
Atalanta climbed up the league table with a win over Cagliari thanks to two early goals from Alejandro Gomez. The Argentinian has been on fire this year, and many clubs are reportedly interested in the winger.
Palermo vs Crotone
Ilija Nestorovski opened the scoring for the hosts, scoring what would eventually be the game winner. Crotone was unable to overcome the deficit, Lorenzo Crisetig getting sent off early in the second half.
Empoli vs Torino
Andrea Belotti opened the scoring, continuing his fairy tale season. Empoli equalized during the first half injury time thanks to a goal from Manuel Pucciarelli. The match would end in a standstill.
Chievo vs Udinese
A pretty even and boring match, both sides could not convert their opportunities, even when Chievo was reduced to ten men after Bostjan Cesar was sent off, and the match ended nil-nil.
Pescara vs Fiorentina
Pescara and Fiorentina played earlier in the week, making up the match that had been postponed earlier due to heavy snow. Fiorentina fell behind early, Gianluca Caprari scoring for the hosts. Fiorentina would emerge victorious, however, Cristian Tello providing both the equalizer and a heroic last minute winner.
