Sunderland midfielder Stephane Sessegnon has rejected speculations linking him with a summer exit from the Stadium of Light.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a brilliant start to his career in England, and is now regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
Some scintillating performances this term saw him linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs, before Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill said he would do everything to keep the player at the Stadium of Light.
The player now reveals he is aware of the transfer talk, but explains that Sunderland stay is a realistic option.
“I’ve got no problem with life here and it’s always good news to hear that the manager wants to keep you,” Sessegnon told Chronicle Live.
“I’m aware of the speculation, but I can’t do anything about it. As I’ve said before, I don’t feel that my work here is finished.”
The Benin international joined Sunderland in a €7 million move from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2011 and has more than repaid the club since.
Sessegnon has been by far the best player at the Stadium of Light this season, having scored 7 goals and created 9 assists in 34 Premier League games.
