Sevilla and Manchester United have agreed a loan transfer for Anthony Martial, according to multiple sources. The forward will now travel to Spain to complete the deal, after pushing to leave Old Trafford in search of regular game-time. Sevilla will pay a fee of £5 million to United and cover the full amount of Martial’s wages at £150,000 per week.
The 26-year-old, who scored just once in 11 appearances in all competitions for United this term, is under contract with the 20-time English champions until the summer of 2024, and Sevilla will have no option to buy at the end of the loan.
Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur were both interested in him too, as were reportedly Juventus, though the Serie A giants pulled out of the race regarding any potential agreement under the terms set by United as too expensive.
Nonetheless, it is believed that Martial has always preferred Sevilla as his destination. Julen Lopetegui’s team are currently second in the La Liga table, trailing leaders Real Madrid by four points.
