(GSM) – Sevilla went back to fourth in the La Liga table on Saturday despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Deportivo La Coruña.
Sevilla scored on the first real chance of the day in the 21st minute when Federico Fazio headed home a cross by Diego Perotti.
But Depor equalized just four minutes later when Adrián took a pass from Andrés Guardado before striking first time beyond goalkeeper Andrés Palop.
Perotti nearly made it 2-1 to Sevilla a few minutes later when he struck the base of the goalpost, and Luis Fabiano’s header went wide in the second half as Sevilla pressed for the go-ahead goal.
Deportivo also had a chance in the 72nd minute to go in front when Juan Domínguez saw his shot turned aside by Palop.
Sevilla controlled much of the possession late on, but the Galicians produced a superb defensive effort to maintain the draw and earn a point on the road.
