Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has warned against counting his side out of their Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid.
The defending champions trail 1-0 after the first leg at home, but will travel to the Bernabeu for the return match against a Real side in turmoil after a shock loss in La Liga at the weekend.
With that in mind, del Nido is fully confident Sevilla can overturn the deficit at the Bernabeu and book a spot in the final for the third time in five years.
“Right now, after the result from the first leg, Madrid have more possibilities of going through at home and getting to the final,” del Nido said.
“But nobody should forget who we are, and think that we are going to give up on the game before the many minutes that are still to be played.”
Sevilla have been buoyed by the arrival of midfielder Gary Medel from Boca Juniors last week, and the Chilean international believes he can help the club be successful.
“I’m happy to be part of this club. It is a big club, and they are obviously aspiring to win trophies. I am as well, and I want to give the club what it deserves,” Medel said.
“I play best as a water carrier in midfield. I’ve played as a full back for the national team, but my natural position is there.”
