AS understands that Sevilla are considering a summer bid for Atalanta midfielder Carlos Carmona.
Los Rojiblancos are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements having stayed without Ivan Rakitic and Stephane M’Bia, and they appear to be hot on the trail of the Chile international.
Sevilla officials are set to step up their interest in the player as they hope to wrap up the deal for his services in the coming weeks.
Carlos Carmona joined Atalanta from Reggina in the summer of 2010 and immediately developed into an important player for Orobici.
He has since made a total of 112 Serie A appearances for the club, scoring 5 goals, but it looks as though the 27-year-old could be leaving this summer.
While he was named in Jorge Sampaoli’s World Cup squad, Carmona did not have a big role to play at the tournament finals, making just one substitute appearance for La Roja in Brazil.
