Sevilla manager Gregorio Manzano is refusing to panic despite the Spanish club’s alarming slide down the La Liga table.
Sevilla have dropped their past three league matches, including home losses to Mallorca (2-1) and Getafe (3-1) and a 1-0 defeat at Villarreal.
The form slump has seen Manzano’s side fall to 10th on the table, but they could find themselves as high as sixth if they can defeat lowly Almeria at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Saturday.
The 54-year-old manager, who took over at the Andalusian club in September following Antonio Alvarez’s sacking, believes the key to achieving this is to remain calm and build confidence on the pitch.
“One shouldn’t create anxiety in this situation that doesn’t lead to anything,” Manzano told reporters.
“The first objective right now is to get the team back on form in terms of results. That will bring back the necessary confidence.”
“If this continues, then we will climb up the league again. We can say that we are close to the position, because it is mathematically possible.”
