Estadio Deportivo reports that Sevilla are set to miss out on long-term target Ralf as they search for a successor to Gary Medel.
Los Rojiblancos have stepped up their chase for a new holding midfielder as soon as Gary “Pitbull” Medel was sold to Cardiff City for a reported fee of €13 million.
Sevilla chiefs were hoping to lure Corinthians midfielder Ralf to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but while they are only prepared to offer around €7 million, their Brazilian giants are holding out for more.
“It would be very difficult to acquire Ralf. He is one of the most important players in our squad and it would be difficult to find a replacement,” Corinthians sporting director Edu Gaspar told Estadio Deportivo.
“We have received a similar proposal (€7 million) from an Italian club six months ago and we rejected it.”
With the new La Liga campaign set to start next weekend, Sevilla officials will have to act quickly if they want to properly replace Gary Medel.
Los Rojiblancos have already been in competitive action this season, having recorded a 9-1 aggregate win over Mladost Podgorica in the Europa League third qualifying stage.
