Sevilla’s president stated today that the Andalucian club have received and rejected an offer for their star player Daniel Alves. The right-back, considered by many to be the best in the world at the moment, has been the subject of heavy transfer speculation for over a year after Chelsea and Real Madrid came very close to signing him less than twelve months ago.
The offer was worth £20 million which the English media believes comes five million short of the £25 million mark that the Spanish club are holding out for. Interest in the right-back might come from a host of club around Europe with Manchester United and Barcelona both rumoured to be most willing to sign the Brazilian defender.
Manchester United will look to strengthen their right back position after Gary Neville has sat out almost a year with various injuries and Wes Brown has not shown the ability to replace the Manchester United captain. Barcelona, meanwhile, need to reinforce that position as they brace themselves for the loss of Gianluca Zambrotta.
The offer could receive a follow up as Daniel Alves looks set to be heading out the door at Sevilla following six brilliant years with the club.
