After the news of Mario Mandzukic’s unsuccessful negotiations with Manchester United was reported almost a week ago, the 33-year-old Juventus forward is still uncertain where he will start the new season as his club are looking to dispose of him. Sevilla allegedly expressed interest in signing him, but now the club are denying those rumours.
“It won’t happen. Forget about it. We have already signed two attackers and coach [Julen Lopetegui] is training with one of them”, said Sevilla’s spokesperson in a telephone conversation with Hina, the Croatian News Agency.
Mandzukic joined Juventus in June 2015. During the four seasons at the club he appeared in 162 matches and scored 44 goals. In April 2019 he signed a new deal with the club, extending his stay at Juve until 2021. Regardless of his successful spell at the Italian club, in June it was reported that there might not be place for the Croat forward beyond the summer of 2019.
