Turin-based Tuttosport has learned that Sevilla have decided to activate the purchase clause in Stevan Jovetic’s contract.
The Montenegrin joined los Rojiblancos on loan with an option to buy for €13 million after a largely disappointing spell at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
However, the 27-year-old enjoyed an excellent start to his career in Spain, producing 4 goals and as many assists in first 16 appearances for Sevilla.
As a result, los Rojiblancos decided to buy out his contract and that was one of the final pieces of business for long-serving sporting director Monchi, who decided to leave for greener pastures.
It is fair to say that Stevan Jovetic hasn’t quite managed to live up to the billing after leaving Fiorentina, but his excellent performances for Sevilla are enough to suggest he is slowly returning to his best.
Prior to joining Inter Milan, the Montenegrin had represented Partizan Belgrade, Fiorentina and Manchester City.
