(GSM) – Bordeaux manager Laurent Blanc is on Sevilla’s radar as they look to improve on this year’s showing in the upcoming season. The 44-year-old Frenchman guided his team to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League this season and is still in the title race in an attempt to retain the Ligue 1 title.
Bordeaux exited Europe’s elite competition on Wednesday night after losing to local rivals Lyon but are still in contention for domestic honors this term. And with Bordeaux winning the league last season and proving to be a power in Europe, Blanc has caught the attention of several top European clubs including Sevilla.
But Bordeaux sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Monchi has denied Blanc is set to quit the French clubs.
“It is not true,” Monchi told Spanish radio SFC when it was suggested Blanc may leave the club.
“Blanc has a deal with Bordeaux.
“I have spoken with his agent and he is surprised by the rumours.”
Meanwhile, Sevilla have also denied reports they are looking for a new manager.
“The only thing we are thinking about is the race for the Champions League and the final of the Copa del Rey,” said club director Ramon Rodriguez.
“Our coach until the end of the season is Antonio Alvarez. We are not interested in anyone else.
“Rumours about management changes could do damage to our performance on the field.
“We have not spoken with anyone else about the manager’s post.”
