Sevilla have completed the signing of striker Baba Diawara from Maritimo, the Spanish club have confirmed.
Los Rojiblancos have announced the deal on their official website, stating that the player had signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
The 24-year-old completed a medical on Sunday before signing a contract with Sevilla, but the cost of the transfer was not revealed.
The player’s contract includes a €30 million release clause, and he will be officially unveiled on Monday.
Diawara arrives to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as a replacement for Freddy Kanoute, who is expected to leave the club in the near future.
The Senegalese has spent his entire professional career at Portuguese side Maritimo, where he scored 36 league goals in four seasons.
He has been in remarkable scoring form this term, having bagged 10 goals in just 14 league starts.
Sevilla are going through a rough patch at the moment, and los Rojiblancos slipped to 9th place in the standings after the five-match winless run.
