Europa League holders Sevilla have turned Fabrice Ondoa’s loan into permanent deal, it has been revealed.
The highly rated shot-stopper had joined los Rojiblancos on loan from Gimnastic Tarragona last summer, and he only went on to make one appearance for the club’s B side.
Nevertheless, Sevilla decided to purchase his contract after the player impressed while representing Cameroon at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
After coming through the Samuel Eto’o Academy, Ondoa spent seven years at Barcelona before he signed a permanent deal with Gimnastic in January 2016.
Despite making just six league appearances at senior level, Cameroonian goalkeeper is held in high regard and he already has 19 Cameroon caps to his name.
It remains to be seen when Ondoa will be promoted to the first team set-up, but he will certainly remain in the reserves for the time being.
