Atletico Madrid attacker Jose Antonio Reyes still harbours hopes of making a return to former club Sevilla in the near future.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a departure from the Vicente Calderon for a second spell in Andalusia in recent weeks, and reports from earlier this month indicated that a deal has already been agreed.
Reyes, however, maintained that he is not aware of any official correspondence regarding a potential transfer.
“I have just found out that an agreement (between Atletico Madrid and Sevilla) has been reached, but I have not received any correspondence of the pact,” Reyes told AS.
“I have always wanted to play and win titles with Atletico, before returning to Sevilla, which is my home, but I am not sure now is the right time.”
Reyes appeared to be surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital during the coaching stint of Gregorio Manzano, but it is possible his replacement Diego Simeone could have other ideas.
In response to the managerial change, the ex-Arsenal star said he was keen on hearing the thoughts of his new boss before making a decision on his future in the next few days.
“Today (Thursday) I’m going to train as usual. Before or after the first session we will talk, but I am calm. I must talk to the boss (to see his intentions) and then make a decision,” said Reyes.
