According to Marca, Sevilla are interested in bringing Mariano Diaz to Spanish football once again. The 25-year-old forward was once with Real Madrid, working his way up through their C and B team where he made quite the impression. Unfortunately, he wasn’t given much of a chance to do the same thing with the first team, meaning that a move away was always going to be on the cards. He decided to take a leap of faith and switch to French football with Lyon – where he’s been able to restore his reputation as a deadly goalscorer.
Earlier in the summer, Lyon claimed that he wasn’t for sale, but that no longer appears to be the case. L’Equipe reported that the club president wants €40 million for him, with two previous bids of €20 million and €25 million both being rejected. However, if Lyon do agree to sell him, they want to ensure that they have a suitable replacement lined up.
