Sevilla are about to sign defender Alberto Botia from Sporting Gijon, the Spanish giants have announced on their official website.
The 23-year-old, who began his professional career at Barcelona, has passed a medical at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after los Colchoneros agreed on the transfer fee with his current club.
The youngster will be officially unveiled as a Sevilla player once he agrees personal terms with the La Liga side.
Alberto Botia, who represented Spain at the 2012 Summer Olympics, is widely regarded as one of the most talented defenders in Spanish La Liga and was recently linked with a return to camp Nou.
However, Sevilla decided to make a move on the highly rated youngster after centre-back Julien Escude left the club on a free transfer earlier this summer.
Los Colchoneros are thus set to wrap up the capture of one of the most promising defenders in Spain’s top flight and the player who has scored two goals and earned 38 yellow cards in 89 La Liga games.
