Well-traveled Ivory Coast forward Seydou Doumbia looks set to finalize a move to Portugal giants Sporting CP.
Former CSKA Moscow, AS Roma and Newcastle United forward is thought to have already arrived in Portugal where he will go through mandatory medical tests before he signs a deal with Leoes, according to Portugal media outlet Ojogo.
Officially an AS Roma player, Doumbia has spent the last year on loans at his former club CSKA Moscow, Newcastle United and Basel.
He scored 21 goals in 34 competitive matches for the Swiss club, which was enough to convince Sporting CP to bring him to Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Best known for his five-year stint at CSKA Moscow between 2010 and 2015 when he scored 61 goals in 95 league appearances, the 29-year-old forward has exchanged the total of 12 different clubs during his career.
Doumbia moved to AS Roma in January 2015 but his €14.4 million transfer turned out to be a wasted investment for Giallorossi who will be glad to get the Ivorian off their books.
