SFA to discuss Levein´s future

Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan has confirmed Craig Levein’s future as manager will be discussed in the coming days.

The Scots sit bottom of World Cup qualifying Group A, eight points short of a playoff spot, and recently suffered a 2-1 defeat to Wales before losing 2-0 to Belgium on Tuesday.

Regan refused to discuss whether Levein’s position was under threat, but admitted a review would be conducted.

“I think that’s a decision for the board,” Regan told the BBC when quizzed on Levein’s position.

“Now is not the time to be making announcements and decisions. That’s something that’ll happen over the course of the next few days.

“It’s important that we just reflect on the start to the campaign, sit down with the manager and with the board and actually look at what’s happened over the last few matches and, in particular, what’s happened in the last two games and then decide on our course of action.

“It’s important that we actually sit down, look at the facts and then decide on the next steps.

“We’re all bitterly disappointed to find ourselves bottom of the group after four games.

“Looking back to the dates meeting, where we set out our fixtures, we were all hoping to get off to a much better start.”
