Nicklas Bendtner’s father admits the Arsenal striker was “very lucky” to escape a car crash without serious injury.

The Denmark international suffered grazes to one of his knees and pain in his shoulder following the accident on Sunday morning, which resulted in his car being written off.

Bendtner was unable to train properly on Monday and he has been ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Olympiakos.

His father and agent Thomas revealed the 21-year-old was “badly shaken” by the crash and acknowledged he was fortunate there was not a more serious consequence to the accident.

“Nicklas has been training by himself on a bike in order to be careful and watch out,” Thomas Bendtner told Sporten.dk.

“He is badly shaken and has some bruises, but knows he was very lucky.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expecting Bendtner to be back in his plans for Sunday’s Premier League game against Blackburn.
