Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk are prepared to sell their playmaker Willian this month, but want £20 million for his services, the Independent has revealed.
This news is likely to put Tottenham Hotspur on red alert as they have been keen on him for a while now, so could finally make their move in this January transfer window.
It would certainly be a statement of intent from Andre Villas-Boas and put the North Londoners in a great position to land a spot in the top four in the English Premier League this campaign.
The Brazilian’s performances in the Champions League were of the highest quality and he really showed what he was capable of on the biggest stage. He helped Shakhtar reach the knockout stages of the competition.
He might be involved in those matches though as Spurs are keen on making a bid for the 24-year-old.
£20 million is a lot of money though as Villas-Boas would be taking a risk on someone who is not proven in England, but it might be one worth taking as he looks to have all the qualities you could want in a playmaker.
If the side from Ukraine will accept this price though, Tottenham might have to do battle with some other clubs.
