(GSM) – Shakhtar Donetsk secured their fifth Ukrainian Premier League title in the last nine seasons on Wednesday as their 1-0 win over biggest rival Dynamo Kyiv gave them an unassailable six-point lead with one game to play.

Dynamo entered the day three points of Shakhtar and a goal better in goal difference.

But that was reversed in the 15th minute when Brazil international Ilsinho found the back of the net for the home side Shakhtar for a 1-0 lead.

Both sides produced a good number of chances in a thrilling game between Ukraine’s top two powers.

In the end, good defending from the home side kept Dynamo at bay and gave Shakhtar the title.

Shakhtar automatically qualify for next season’s Champions League while Dynamo will enter the third qualifying round in the non-champions path.
