Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Willian has urged club chiefs to allow him to join Tottenham this summer.
Spurs see the Brazilian as a perfect replacement for Real Madrid-bound Luka Modric and they have even sent an official offer for the player’s services.
However, Shakhtar don’t appear ready to cash in on their prized asset, and the midfielder admits he is very disappointed by his club.
“I have a proposal, but it is complicated because of the board. Here are many players in the same position, most Brazilian. They buy and do not let go,” Willian told reporters.
“That’s the problem. Everyone knows that I want out; I’ve been here for five years, won many titles, so I hope you respect my will.
“I do not regret coming here, but this situation has been happening, with Chelsea trying to get me in January and now Tottenham, we start to rethink.”
Willian was on the verge of joining Chelsea last January, but Shakhtar’s high asking price proved to be a stumbling block to a possible deal.
The situation is very similar at the moment, with Tottenham now lining up a bid for the talented midfielder, so no wonder he is desperate to finally join a big European club.
The 24-year-old has spent last five years in Ukraine, scoring 19 goals in 109 league games for the club from Donetsk.
