(GSM) – Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky has joined Turkish side Kayserispor from Middlesbrough.
The 28-year-old Egyptian international had been limited to just 18 first-team appearances in his two-and-a-half years at the Riverside and chose to swap Middlesbrough for Kayserispor on a free transfer.
New Boro boss Gordon Strachan deemed him surplus to his requirements and allowed him to talk with Kayserispor, and they have now confirmed his signing.
Shawky, who was out-of-contract at Boro in the summer, has agreed a two-and-half-year deal in Turkey after being allowed to leave.
It is reported that Boro allowed Shawky to depart on a free transfer.
