Sheffield United are the surprise package of the Premier League this season but not only on the pitch, it seems. After great performances in the league, they got a lot of sympathies from the fans all over the world, but now they are surprising off the pitch as well.
The Blades have completed the signing of a highly rated Sander Berge from Genk. The young midfielder joins from the Belgian side who played in UEFA Champions League group stages this season. He was also a big part in Genk’s title triumph in the league and now the Norway international has joined the Premier League side.
This seems a bit of a coup for Sheffield United, as Berge is highly touted and was monitored by several European clubs. Some reports were even suggesting Chelsea and Liverpool were scouting the 21-year-old. None of those deals happened and Sheffield United swept in with a club-record fee of 22 million pounds.
