Sheffield United are interested in signing Jonjo Shelvey from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun. The report has claimed that the Blades are considering making a bid for the former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder.
United will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of the last campaign. So, the Blades are looking for players who will enhance their chances of staving the drop back to the second tier of English football.
Shelvey is not in the plans of Forest at the moment. The former Newcastle midfielder is not part of the Reds’ squad that will travel to Spain next week for a pre-season training camp. Shelvey moved to Forest from Newcastle only in the January transfer window and failed to make a huge impact at the City Ground. The Reds want to offload the £70,000-a-week player and want a small fee for him.
