Sheffield Wednesday welcome Aston Villa to Hillsborough in this afternoon’s Championship clash, in a game that could be a close affair. Wednesday will fancy their chances of coming out on top, but Villa’s strong pre-season and new-found defensive resilience could stifle the Owls.

Wednesday finished sixth in the Championship last season with 74 points from 46 games, but lost out in the playoff finals this summer. The Owls were formidable on home soil, losing just two games at Hillsborough, but they drew more than a third of their matches in their own backyard.
