Sheffield Wednesday double chance against Millwall 4/5 for Saturday’s Championship matchup

Competition: Championship

Market: Sheffield Wednesday double chance

Odds: 4/5 @ 888sport

Looking to make it three wins on the bounce this weekend, Sheffield Wednesday will make the trip to an empty Den on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Millwall may have put on a rugged display against Norwich earlier in the week, it was another toothless night’s worth for the South London outfit. Losing their spot in the top-half of the table and eventually playing out a 0-0 stalemate against the league leaders on home soil, the Lions are without a win in their last four matchups across all formats. With their fading play-off ambitions taking another dent, Millwall have also gained a reputation for their recent issues in the final third. Along with crashing out of the FA Cup last month thanks to what turned into a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Bristol City, this weekend’s hosts have managed to record just a single goal in over 400 minutes of action. It should also be noted that the Blues have failed to record a single win on home soil since way back on October 20th.

As for the visitors, while Sheffield Wednesday might still find themselves battling it out in the drop zone, there is no doubt that the Owls have really impressed many across the Championship. With the mood in their camp at a real high and caretaker boss Neil Thompson certainly getting the best out of his squad, they really caught the eye away on the South Coast in midweek. Leaving it late and snatching a dramatic 2-1 win away at promotion chasers Bournemouth, Wednesday have now collected back-to-back Championship wins over the past week. Now sat just three points adrift of finding a route out of the relegation zone after their points deduction last summer, Saturday’s guests should be smelling a real chance in the capital. Winning four of their last five second-tier matchups, don’t be surprised to see an upset at the Den this weekend.
