Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has finally sealed a long-expected move away from Stamford Bridge after agreeing to rejoin former club Dynamo Kiev on a two-year deal.
The former Ballon d’Or winner endured a tough time in the premier league after signing for a club record of £30 million back in 2006 from AC Milan.
The 32-year-old managed just 9 goals in 48 games compared to the 127 goals he scored in 208 games whilst at AC Milan and despite a term on loan at the Italian giants last season the striker has failed to regain a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea side.
Ancelotti told press: “Sheva didn’t have the possibility to play consistently. He would like to play with continuity here for me, but it is difficult for me to give him the possibility to play a lot of matches and he will take the right decision for him.â€Â
Just days later Ancelotti revealed that the Ukrainian international had chosen to leave the London side, wit h Dynamo Kiev’s official website revealing the deal with a picture of Shevchenko and a number 7 Kiev shirt.
Shevchenko began his career at the Ukrainian champions from a young age, before making his debut in 1994, eventually joining AC Milan for a then record transfer fee of $25 million in 1999. The striker is expected to be revealed officially to the public in the next few days.
