Real Madrid-president Florentino Perez loves shopping. And when he can’t buy players because the transfer window is closes, he buys a referee.
Carlos Megia Davila, voted best arbiter of the Primera Division the last two seasons, is contracted to comfort the officials that lead Madrid home games.
He’s also contracted to keep the coach and the players up to date about rule changes that might occur.
Davila is still registered as a referee but wasn`t involved in this season because of an injury.
Real-critics say that, by signing Davila, the club wants to pleasure the Spanish referees.
Sports paper AS issues that chairman Perez made a thumb decision by signing a referee.
`Now Madrid-opponents can claim referees favor Real.`
