(GSM) – Full-Back Nicky Shorey is dreaming of an England recall. He has set his sights on return to the England squad for the World Cup.
The full-back is currently on loan at Fulham after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular in the Aston Villa side under Martin O’Neill. Shorey joined Fulham on the Winter’s transfer deadline day.
“There’s nothing worse than not playing. I really loved my time at Forest and was looking forward to going back when this move came out of nowhere,” said Shorey.
And having been in impressive form at Craven Cottage, the player admits he would love to feature in the England squad for this summer’s World Cup finals. However, even if Ashley Cole is unfit come the summer, Shorey is thought to be still behind the likes of Wayne Bridge, Stephen Warnock and Leighton Baines in Fabio Capello’s order of preference.
“I’ve played for England before and I enjoyed it but I’ll leave that for other people to talk about. I’ve two caps and it’s great to play for your country,” added Shorey.
