Should Luis Fabiano stay in Europe or return home?

Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano has revealed that he would like to return to Brazil in 2013 when his contract with the Andalucian’s expires.

The 30 year-old has previously stated his desire to leave the La Liga and has been linked with a move to a host of top European sides.

Linked

Last summer the Brazilian international was linked with a move to both Premier League Tottenham and Serie A leaders AC Milan.

Sevilla however wanted to hold onto the striker so priced him out of a move elsewhere.

Prolific

Even at 30 years of age Fabiano is still a top striker who could score goals in any of Europe’s top leagues. The striker moved to Sevilla in 2005 and ever since has been prolific for the Spanish top flight underachievers.

Unsettled

Fabiano has seemed unsettled at the Andalucían side for awhile and there always seems to be stories linking the star with big money moves to bigger clubs.

The speculation about the striker seems to unsettle him and suddenly he is making quotes in the international media about moving on. He seems like a guy that is very emotional and sometimes he can come across as disloyal.

Homeland

Talking about his future he told GloboEsporte: “Brazilian football is taking huge leaps forward and a lot of players are returning there,”

“In three years we will have the World Cup and it will be fantastic. It is the ideal moment to return. I would like to continue my adventure at Sao Paulo. I was top goalscorer there and it would be nice (to go back), but Brazil has lots of other good clubs such as Flamengo, Fluminese and Internacional.”

The Brazilian domestic league is currently awash with money because of big money sponsors. This has lead to the return of some big name Brazilian stars. The likes of Ronaldinho, Mancini and Elano have all recently returned to their homeland. Fabiano would be another feather in the cap of the Brazilian top flight.

Early

Although the Brazilian game has attracted some major stars back I don’t think Fabiano should be considering returning home just yet. He still looks like he has a lot to offer club’s in Europe and I think most clubs in Italy, Spain or England would be interested in signing him if the opportunity arose.

I think he would be an ideal signing for any of the top English sides. He is a natural goalscorer and natural goalscorer’s are hard to come by in the modern game. He is the sort of striker who guarantees you goals.

Maybe in two or three year’s time he will be ready to return to the Brazilian top flight. I’m sure he still has plenty of La Liga goals left in him. He has already scored ten goals in 17 appearances in La Liga this season and his goals will be important if Sevilla are to gain European qualification again for next season.

Luis Fabiano is still a crucial player for the club and will probably be for the next couple of seasons. I have no doubt that he will then head home and continue to find the net in his homeland.

Where will Luis Fabiano head next?
