Various newspapers this morning report that Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United chief executive David Gill are heading for an argument over Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sir Alex wants to offer the Portuguese winger a new deal to ensure he stays at the club and doesn’t re-open the Real Madrid saga, but chief executive David Gill does not want to increase the midfielder’s already substantial wages of £120,000 per week.
This is a tough one to call. It would obviously be in United’s interest to keep Ronaldo who looks like he might be getting back towards his form of last season, but can it possibly be right to increase his salary from the already obscene level in the current economic climate?
What do United fans think? Should he be given more or should the club cash in and let him go?
